Global Enterprise Week hailed a huge success
THIS years Enterprise Week has been hailed a huge success by Train 2000 with events well attended throughout the area.
Coffee morning, afternoon teas, business advice surgeries, one day business workshops and networking events all took place during the course of the week with many women coming along to find out about starting up their own businesses.
And, at Eastcroft Park School in Kirkby Year Six pupils enjoyed running their own business for the day – a young enterprise initiative which was organised by Train 2000 as part of the School Gates project. The Year Six pupils were tasked with producing a 2011 calendar to be sold, in a bid to raise school funds.
Jo Dunn, Enterprise Enabler for Train 2000, said: “It was a fantastic day and all the pupils enjoyed taking part and really got into the spirit of it. They really came up with some great ideas and the winning group Sixessful will now sell their World War II themed calendar on Kirkby market, at Christmas fairs and to local pensioners.”
“The day provided the pupils with a great opportunity to think about what it is like to run your own business and hopefully this positive experience will remain with them for the future.”
Feedback from the event was excellent with one pupil saying “‘I really enjoyed myself today making our own business and presenting our work and working as part of a team. I had an amazing day.”
