The Women's Organisation celebrate International Women's Day!

So International Women’s Day/Weekend/Week is over! We had a fantastic time at our celebrations on Thursday 5th March.

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day was ‘Make It Happen’ and thank you to everyone who attended our event, we really did!

The afternoon was a celebration of women and featured a fantastic talk from Alissa Koopal. Alissa, who was recently named as one of the Telegraphs, ‘Female Entrepreneurs to Watch in 2015’, and is the founder of Izzy Melody and the inventor of the innovative Baby Bangle.

It was fantastic to hear Alissa speak about following her goals, and being persistent and determined in her business. It was also great to hear her advocating women collaborating and working together to support each other in reaching their goals.

As well as hearing Alissa speak, we also had an introduction from our very own training co-ordinator Bernie Cox, who told us some interesting facts about International Women’s Day all over the world, and an inspiring talk from Pat Shea Halston, Chair of The Women’s Organisation who thanked all the women all over the country for supporting us in our endeavours to inspire enterprise.

Then, we had some time, for all of Business Club member’s favourite activity – a spot of networking! It was great to see so many people turn up to our event, and we hope everyone enjoyed celebrating International Women’s Day with us!

And if you were lucky, some Film and Journalism students from Liverpool John Moores University may have cornered you for a bit of filming, asking the women about International Women’s Day and what they were doing to celebrate it!
Thank you to everyone who attended the event and made our IWD celebrations ‘HAPPEN’!
