The Women’s Organisation has got a new partner on board! It’s Plus Dane Housing and together we will be bringing an exciting new programme to Merseyside. The Step Forward programme will be helping Plus Dane tenants and their families to create change in their lives, one step at a time.
Plus Dane owns and manages over 18,000 homes across Merseyside and Cheshire and employs more than 800 people. They are a customer-led organisation whose work focuses on increasing investment in properties, community safety and ensuring well-being in the residents.
We have teamed up with Plus Dane Housing, to bring their tenants a range of support services, to help them build confidence and improve their future. The Step Forward programme will offer a range of advice, support and training to help tenants move towards perhaps building a new career, tailoring their jobs to their own lives, and learning new skills for their future.
Our teams met yesterday for a planning session so we could hear what tenants want, with the help of Plus Dane Housing’s Community Champions.
These Community Champions are at the heart of what Plus Dane does. They are the tenants of Plus Dane who have gone through a training programme and work closely with the housing association to improve the lives of their families and those in their community. Alongside the Community Champions, the Women’s Organisation were joined by the Plus Dane team, and a few of our own fantastic clients who came to support us and tell their stories to those there.
After filling up on muffins and pastries the meeting got underway with the help of an icebreaker activity. Trainer Bernie put together a quick quiz on gender, to illustrate to everyone there, why we do the work that we do. The session enabled us to plan our activities for the future, and begin to get excited about Step Forward
Merseyside residents who live in Plus Dane houses will be able to access the following…
· Personal Development and Confidence Building
· Advice on Self Employment and Business Start Up
· Support for community engagement
· Signposting to services
· Support finding funds to step into work, training or business
Here at The Women’s Organisation we are raring to go, and looking forward to getting our teeth into this new programme. Please keep your eyes peeled as we let you know about future events and engagement activities as we begin to get Step Forward underway.
