Join The Women’s Organisation on Monday 8th June from 1-3pm as we help women in business decide whether wholesaling is for them.
This is a one-off and FREE event in our series of ‘Should I…’ workshops, and is aimed at female-led businesses that make and sell things but want to sell more. ‘Should I Wholesale?’ is aiming to demystify this area of business, and show how women in retail can grow their businesses.
There has been a massive surge of ‘Makers and Sellers’ in recent years, with craft fairs, the internet and social media opening up these gates for many independent businesses to thrive. But what is the next step? How do businesses take it up another level?
This event will be a discussion to help unravel the mystery of retailers. We will be discussing these key topics within this great event…
The Retailers Unravelled – Who are they? How are they structured? What are the options as a business for approaching them?
What is Wholesaling? – Is your product suitable? Can it be scaled up for manufacturing? Where do you start with costings and suppliers? How can you maximise trade show opportunities?
And we will be joined by two experts from the field of retail; Matt Bell, founder of REX Concept Store and Revolver Retail, and Vicky Carden The Retail Business Queen, a retail consultant who has worked as a buyer for over 20 years.
Matt Bell moved to Liverpool to take on the role of Business and Customer Service Director of Liverpool ONE from it’s opening in 2008. He then left to set up his own business in 2013. Matt set up Revolver Retail to deliver innovative solutions for retailers and property owners to make retail spaces accessible again. Revolver specialises in creating spaces for start-up and independent retailers to allow them to trade side by side with the big chain stores. To date this has included pop-up shops, concession spaces in Topshop, the UK’s first shipping container market, and currently, REX: The Concept Store, home to over 70 local businesses in Liverpool City Centre.
Vicky Carden has had over 20 years’ experience in buying, starting her career as a Buyers Assistant at Matalan, and progressed to Senior Buyer level at Poundstretcher and Home Bargains. Her most recent role was as Head of Buying at Liverpool Football Club, where she was recruited to set up and operate a new buying team for the club stores and online business.
If you are a Merseyside woman who wants to find out more about working with retailers and buyers, then come along to this event and find out if your business is ready to wholesale and how to take your first steps! Be sure to book your spot quickly as spaces are limited, and it’s not an event you want to miss!
