Melanie Gets A Ticket To Ride Luxury City Tour

Imagine being the first in Liverpool to receive a one person passenger licence for your soft top Porsche Boxster.
Melanie Wilson need wonder no more for she has just launched Imagine Liverpool, the city’s first one person VIP tour company in Liverpool.
The Magic Mystery Tour is ideal for Liverpool Day Trippers as they can tour the sites of the city in between meetings.
Melanie, a former office manager for a large building company got the idea for the business after returning to the city.
“I spent four years away from the city before I decided to Get Back to where I once belonged. When I returned I was amazed at the changes particularly in the tourism trade.
“I love cars and I thought travelling around the city in a smart sports car would appeal to lone travellers visiting the city as well as local people wanting to treat themselves. When I enquired with the taxi licensing authority I was told I was the first in Liverpool to gain a one person licence although I do intend to build up a fleet of luxury cars for more than one in the future.”
Although Melanie had worked on multimillion pound projects at Liverpool Airport and Liverpool One overseeing a team of 120 people she had never run her own business before.
She added:
“The first thing I did after coming up with the idea was to contact Train 2000 for help. They gave me a great deal to think about and support with my business plan and financial planning. I was given the confidence to keep moving forward and here I am.”
The Imagine Liverpool tour includes a stop at Liverpool Football Club, Speke Hall, other famous sights and of course the Beatles former homes and song landmarks.
“The great thing about the Imagine Liverpool tour is that with just one person it means I can deliver a very personalised service – I even take photographs too.”
Melanie now has her own sights set on a new car to add to her fleet but can’t decide between a Ferrari or a Bentley.”

Published on 7 Feb 2010 Scottish Herald
‘I started out with nothin’ and I still got most of it left.” The title of blues singer Seasick Steve’s recent album could offer a catchy subtitle for the National Equalities Panel (NEP) report An Anatomy of Inequality in the UK.

As the gender pay gap sits at an alarming 20% in the UK, it seems the government are also struggling to bridge the rich/poor divide.

Singing Our Socks Off Success!

Mersey business woman Su Grainger celebrated the latest chapter of business success with close friends, colleagues and other local businesses last week when she opened her fantastic new training space.

Founder of 'Singing Our Socks Off', singing groups open to all abilities, Su has now developed her own rehearsal space thanks to Stepclever funding. Although Su will still run her groups across the county at various community venues, this exciting new office space will provide a regular venue where Su will offer one to one singing and speech training, as well as group rehearsals.

Based in Studio 11 of the St Mary's Complex in Waverly Street in Bootle, Singing Our Socks Off joins a whole host of other creative businesses taking advantage of this creative hub housed in the former primary school.

Those who attended the opening were treated to a performance from some of Su's students who joined together in African song in the communal hall at the Studios, an additional space that the incubated businesses have shared use of.

Train 2000's Enterprise Manager Jackie Williams (pictured with Su), who supported Su in the initial stages of setting up her business attended the event and commented:
"It's fantastic to see Su's business go from strength to strength. She is an inspiration to other business women, and testament that sheer determination does pay off."
